The Path of Wisdom

Some people get older but they don't get wiser.

I've learned in my experience that gaining wisdom is a choice. It is not something that we are entitled to have and it certainly does not come simply because we celebrate a birthday. Wisdom also can not be learned nor inherited.

I once foolishly thought that once we reached a particular age, we would automatically obtain the wisdom required to enter into that phase of life. Well, that's absolutely not the case.

I know this story of two women; one older than the other. The two women were quite different in their own rights but they shared one common factor. As time would have it things in their lives took place and hurt, disappointment, and betrayal soon began to be shared amongst them.

These painful components charged negative forces between these two and their behaviors began to reflect the energy within them. Time continued to move forward and the women continued to purposely do and say inappropriate things to one another.

Then one day the younger of the two made a choice to put a stop to the pattern of behavior that caused them to be rivals. She chose to step away from the behaviors that no longer matched her age and she turned her past into a learning experience. That transition into letting go of childish ways and allowing the maturity of womanhood molded her mindset and actions.

Unfortunately, this was not received by the older woman. She continued to hold onto bitterness and spitefully set up thorns to be placed in the wayside of the younger woman. Years passed and she steadily grew older but sorrowfully she lacked in her ability to accept reality for what it was and gain the necessary wisdom. She lived her life hating the younger woman because she hated herself. She knew that her time had become shortened and she had not done the work it took to choose a new path; the path of wisdom.

I believe the moral of the story is to show that despite how young you are, wisdom is obtainable. When Solomon became king (at a young age) he asked God for wisdom and it's noted that Solomon was the wisest person to walk this earth. I say do yourself a favor and instead of becoming a grumpy old man or woman, choose to walk the way of wisdom before it's too late. In the end, you are only hurting and or saving yourself.
