My Mom was Everything... and then some .

My mom was everything..
and then some.
The immense sum of
Raymond's darkness and Leona's light.
She was a catastrophic explosion
a supernova that shined hell of bright.
And despite
her imperfections she was just right..
for us.
Though times we would bicker and fuss,
we spoke in each other's language of love.
Released the white dove
when it was time to cease
and restore peace.
Cause see
that's what you do
when your relationships ascends,
and you grow from being mother and child
to becoming the closest of friends.
And she,
she was my BFF..
staff to clef..
sous to chef,
a team
but you couldn't tell her that she wasn't the ref.
She was the Janet in our family,
had a thing for Control.
Smart and sassy,
fierce and bold.
Enjoyed
corny jokes,
she was simply a-maize-ing.
Sacrificed her life,
to foster those she helped in raising--

and Shaheen.
We, her legacy
she our queen.

She was greatness
times 4 million, 4 thousand, 4 hundred and forty 4.
Not to keep score
but if you told her you loved her,
she replied, "I love you more."
Her intentions were pure,
into the poor she would pour.
Never hesitated to give of her last,
and if you were lucky enough
to be invited by pass..
her tough exterior,
then you'd recognize the presence
of something divinely superior.

She was a work in work,
a good Samaritan and a jerk.
A saint, she ain't
but she was the perfect balance
of sinner and winner.
And right before it was over
I watched her even conquered hell,
kept up appearances,
she wore the armor of God quite well.

She lived a marvelous life,
not just as a mom
a daughter,
sister,
auntie,
grandma
and twice over,
a wife.

Mother's Day is different,
never will they be like the rest.
Being without her being is difficult,
But I made a promise to give it my best.
So before the waves come a crashing
and I go numb,
figured I let you in on
how my mom was everything..
and then some.
